Facts about Hermit crabs
Facts about Hermit crabs.
Hermit crabs can be found both on land and in water. Unlike the normal crabs, hermit crabs have a soft vulnerable abdomen that needs protection. The most common protection they use is snail shells, but it can be any shell they fit into. When shells are hard to find they also cover themselves with bamboo or coconut shells. When hermit crabs grow, they need to find a larger shell. Once they find a proper size one, they pull themselves inside the new one and only the head and claves stick out. Hermit crabs can also carry other organisms like sea anemones on their shells as camouflage and protection. These anemones normally transfers together with the Hermit crab making them live in a symbiotic relationship.
