Today on our 09h30 boat trip we had Bottlenose dolphins playing in the surf at Keurbooms Strand.
En-route to Robberg we encountered 4 Brydes whales.

Yesterday evening at 17h00 a big shoal of pilchards was pushed into the day by ± 1000 Common dolphins and 5 – 6 Brydes whales.
This feeding frenzy went on until about 17h30 until the dolphins rounded the point of Robberg on their way to Knysna.

On our 09h30 trip today we encountered a pod of ±250 – 300 common dolphins moving towards the corner of Robberg.
These animals kept our guests on vessel Gaia entertained for at least 30 minutes before leaving the bay and moving on to Knysna.
While following these common dolphins, we had various Brydes whales 5 – 6, traveling behind them.
What a fantastic day on the ocean.

Yesterday our crew, Shaun and Mario took our vessel Damara II for the 12h00 excursion.
As they were running along Keurbooms Strand they came across a lonesome pod of 9 Indo-Pacific Humpback dolphins, the largest of the 3 dolphin species in our bay.
As the boat was traveling alongside them, they played in the surf.
This is unfortunately a dying species as they pick up agricultural poisons in the River Mouth and estuaries as they feed.
The female passes the poison on to their young, through their young as they suckle.
They never reach full maturity as they die young.

On Wednesday morning on our 09h30 boat trip we encountered a pod of Bottlenose dolphins on the other side of the Keurbooms River Mouth.
En-Route to Robberg we encountered a Brydes whale at Robberg 5.

On Monday 16th April we had our second Southern Right whale passing through the bay for 2012.
Guests were entertained on Robberg Beach with this whale breaching up to 5 to 6 times ± 2kilometers off the Beacon Island moving towards the Point of Robberg.
Today on both our 09h30 and 12h00 boat trips we had the Indo- Pacific Humpback dolphins.

On Friday the 13th April we woke up to find our bay full of life.
We launched our first boat at 09h30 and proceeded towards the Keurbooms River Mouth where we approached our first group of Common dolphin’s ±2000 with thousands of Gannets and ±20 to 30 Brydes whales feeding.
We then moved off and continued towards Robberg where we encountered the Mega pod of 6000 to 8000 Common dolphins.

After not being able to get to sea for two days due to strong winds and rain, this did not affect our dolphins at all.
On launching at 09h30 this morning, we picked up a group of 40 – 50 Bottlenose dolphins other side the Keurbooms River Mouth.
We followed them up to Dune Park where they kept our guests entertained by swimming next to the boat and jumping out the waves.

With the strong easterly winds blowing yesterday vast shoals of pilchards & mackerel moved into our bay to feed on the plankton rich water that had been blown in.
With this came the Gannets, Common dolphins and Brydes whales.

For the last couple of days we have been very lucky to have various pods of Common dolphins feeding in our Bay.
The groups have ranged between 150 and ±1500.
We also had Brydes whales feeding with them and yesterday afternoon, we had a group of 7 lunge feeding between the common dolphins on various baitfish.
