The Elephant Seal is back

30 of may -homepage

Since last week one of the Elephant seals is back at the Robberg seal colony. The elephant seals come into the bay a few times a year. Why do they come in? The one in the middle of the year is hard to tell, it seems like it is there to rest, but it could also be here to chase the Cape Fur seal pups. Elephant seals are a much bigger species of seal then the Cape Fur seal. The size of a Cape Fur Seal bull can be 2.5m and 350kg while the Elephant seal bull grow to 4.5m and over 3000kg, so the elephant seal bulls are double in length and almost 10 times the weight.
